The Story
Kigali was absolutely the main character of my recent travels, and I am still reeling from how polished and green it was. I arrived expecting a sleepy town, but the creative scene was buzzing with such fresh energy that my camera roll was overflowing before I finished my first coffee. It was truly a refreshing change from the usual tourist traps, offering a sophisticated mix of innovation and tradition that kept me on my toes. I spent my mornings wandering through the Inema Arts Centre, where the talent was genuinely mind-blowing, before heading to the Caplaki Craft Village to hunt for unique beaded treasures. I sampled some of the smoothest, high-altitude coffee at a local roastery that put my usual morning brew to shame, and I made sure to catch the sunset from a viewpoint overlooking those rolling hills. The Kigali Genocide Memorial was a heavy but essential stop, providing a poignant look at the resilience and recovery of this incredible nation. My stay was surprisingly affordable for such a high-standard experience, proving that one can indulge in luxury without needing a massive fortune. It was a brilliant, eye-opening escape that left me wanting more of that Rwandan magic.
